Eating Disorder Literature

Eating Disorder Literature reviews...

1) Males with Eating Disorders, Andersen Arnold:
Clinical discussion on the physiological, psychological, cultural and existential aspects of these generally neglected but apparently increasing problems.

2) Hunger Strike;Orbach, Susie
Discussion of the theories behind anorexia. Is it a cultural epidemic? Also discusses the changing attitudes towards anorexia and new treatment approaches.

3) Bulimia and Anorexia; The binge-purge cycle, Boskind-White, Marlen
Dscusses the often blurred boundaries between Eating disorders with a more clinical approach. A very interesting read but without the 'personal' element.

4) The secret language of Eating Disorders; Claude-Pierre, Peggie
Depicts the long struggle of Peggy Claude-Pierre in nurturing her daughters back to health. Her treatment approach is not conventional but very intriguing. Her methods have provided the foundation for some treatment establishments here and abroad.

5) Eating disorders: The path to recovery; Middleton, Kate
A very good start for the basics of eating disorders, all covered individually. May be useful for parents or friends.

6) Wasted; Hornbacher, Marya
So many aspects of the book I could identify with, a gripping and heart rending read.
